A Compass For Life’s Journey

Life’s journey is what you make it and the American Dream should be your destination. Frame accessible goals for the short term so you can see visible results through life. Approach work with the attitude of being as successful as you can be to expand your potential. Always remember, a chosen career path is just a beginning. Unless you have a silver spoon in your mouth, you have to put in your time in your field to advance.

Another way to improve life’s journey is to follow your passion, your profession, or your hobbies. Even if you refuse to pick up a book, Google your favorite topics. Read everything you enjoy and stay informed. By doing this roadwork, you will gain the respect of friends and colleagues with your learned insights.

Take advantage of any opportunity to write, anything. Always check your punctuattion so you write without mistakes. Write as if you were writing a newspaper article so a reader can comprehend your thoughts. Great writing can advance your career because intellectuals will recognize your work.

If you are an introvert, get over yourself. There is this new saying, ok not so new, “It’s not what you know, but who you know.” Travel and visit new places, join groups, & make new friends. Keep expanding your circle of contacts. When meeting new people always be authentic and sincere.

Another way to expand your knowledge is to take on a new project, be it a classic car rebuild, a new home, writing a new blog, or just being a volunteer. There is nothing stronger than the heart of volunteer and I don’t mean the Tennessee kind.

Above all of these other tasks is to make sure you leave time for yourself. Get out and just play. With your kids, your dog, or your friends you can find your center again. Some days it is just better to step back into your comfort zone. When we play we can learn some of life’s best lessons and even learn a little more about ourselves.

Realize the person you are today wouldn’t exist if it wasn’t for your life experiences, due in a big part to the people we’ve met and the places we have visited.

In life, say what you mean and mean what you say & you’ll never have any regrets when you sail into the harbor.
